As shown by a survey we conducted in our PS5 Users Latvia group, half of those who already have a PlayStation 5 console plan to increase the memory. Most plan to increase by 1TB. some are 2TB and a very small number are 4TB.
Let’s take a quick look at which SSDs are suitable for the PlayStation 5 (PS5).
- Interface: PCIe Gen 4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD
- Size: from 250GB to 4TB
- During prolonged operation, the hard drive will heat up, so to prevent failures, overheating or damage, it is recommended to buy SSDs with heatsinks.
- Reading speed must be at least 5500MB/s
- The module is no wider than 22mm (+1.5mm on each side for the radiator). When designating hard drives, special markings are used in which the first two digits indicate the width, the remaining digits indicate the length, which should be from 30cm to 110cm. Therefore, 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 are suitable for us. The total size should not exceed 110mm(length)25mm(width)11.25mm(height)
- Socket type: 3 with M key
